Bullying has a way of stripping people of their sense of security. It has the tendency to crush one’s self-esteem and leave them in a weak state of mind. It is the ultimate form of manipulation. Over the years, I’ve noticed that many people become victims to such experiences, while others refuse to back down. They stand tall; they rise to the challenge.
They refuse to be victims.
Sadly, most people are their own abusers. Most people bully themselves on a daily basis. They don’t do it intentionally of course…
Negative thoughts, I believe, are a twisted way for someone to motivate themselves into becoming a better person. People believe that by being extra harsh on themselves, they are pushing themselves. This is, of course, a destructive habit.
I often question what makes it okay for someone to bully themselves… What makes it okay to be so harsh and mean to yourself when you dare not be that mean to people around you?
Why would you take other people’s feelings into consideration when you don’t give a crap about your own feelings getting hurt?
Why is it so hard to be kind to yourself?
They say… Negative thinking can prepare you for anything.. If you’ve taken all the bad scenarios into consideration, then you can’t be disappointed, right? Negative thinking helps you maintain control. Nothing can shock you or surprise you.. a perfectionist you are..
In total control you are.. But are you really?
In times when you feel like the world has let you down, remember that you are special in your own right. You are you, and there’s only one of you in this entire existence… So ask yourself this, how can you not be special?
It’s an appalling thought really… being convinced that you are a nobody, being convinced that you have to be so harsh on yourself to meet expectation that you believe make you worthy… This is what negative thinking creates.. you think you are in control, but all you’ve done is create a monster. It eats you up from the inside and sooner than you realize, it is the one that is in control.
So, I ask you this.. what are you going to do about it?
Because let me tell you something, many people go through this and you are not alone in your struggle. Negative thinking is a habit, and habits can be broken with effort and strength of will! Many have overcome this and so can you..
So, what’s it going to be? .. are you a victim or a fighter?
“Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.”
— Helen Keller —
“When the negative thoughts come – and they will; they come to all of us – it’s not enough to just not dwell on it… You’ve got to replace it with a positive thought.”
— Joel Osteen —
